Arun District Council has been notified that the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership has been awarded Local Growth Funding to support important new infrastructure proposals in the district.
As a result of this the Bognor Regis A29 re-alignment between the new Bognor Regis Relief Road and the A27 has been granted £13 m towards the improvements.
The A29 re-alignment scheme was identified as a priority for investment because it supports the delivery of the Council’s plans for strategic development at Barnham, Eastergate, Westergate and Enterprise Bognor Regis. This is a major highway improvement which will provide access to the proposed development and an alternative to using the Woodgate level crossing which causes delays on the existing A29. The timing of the delivery of the scheme is dependent on the timing of development and the scheme is currently in the very earliest stages of preparation and a full business case will need to be prepared. Consultation with the public and stakeholders will also be undertaken before a scheme is implemented.
These proposed improvements also include 4 to 5 new junctions, plus cycle and pedestrian facilities. The realignment will allow new development of business and employment opportunities in Bognor Regis.

Brierley & Coe believes that this investment in infrastructure will fundamentally improve road communications necessary to fully unlock the 69 hectares of land north east of Bognor Regis earmarked for business employment development.
