Government proposals to improve the A27 will boost the local economy and attract more investment to Worthing and the south coast.
The proposed improvements to the A27 in Worthing, Lancing, Lewes and Arundel have been warmly welcomed by leading commercial property consultants in the South East of England.
One such consultancy, Brierley & Coe, has said that the A27 improvements will boost the commercial competitiveness of Worthing town.
The Worthing-based consultancy also believes the proposed upgrades to such a vital south coast artery will improve business communications and make the area along the West Sussex A27 corridor more attractive to investors.
Worthing A27 improvements
The government is proposing to invest £350 million to transform the A27 by making significant improvements at Worthing and Lancing and by building a new bypass at Arundel. The new bypass will complete the so-called “missing link” which currently causes many traffic delays around the ancient town.
Overall, the government’s investment aims to create 18 new schemes across London and the South East at a cost of around £1.4 billion.
Theses schemes form part of a £15 billion plan to increase the capacity and condition of roads throughout England by tripling levels of spending by the end of the decade.
On announcing the proposals, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin described it as the biggest, boldest and most far-reaching roads programme for decades that will dramatically improve the network and unlock Britain’s economic potential.
Will A27 plans boost property demand?
Most commercial property consultants in the South East agree with the minister that improvements to the A27 and other major roads will boost the economic prospects for West Sussex and East Sussex by attracting many more companies to acquire quality industrial and commercial space in the two counties.
Brierley & Coe believes the A27 upgrades will greatly assist in kick-starting the development of quality industrial space available in Worthing to a much wider group of potential investors and occupants.
With major improvements to the A27 corridor on the cards, many more companies across the South East will consider locating their manufacturing and commercial activities in Worthing.
In fact improvements to the A27 are already being factored into forward-thinking property investors’ considerations.
